This is a selection of Scottish anecdotes I've run across in various books, compiled in the 19th century. The daily selection is random, but earmarked into topics for viewing. All are 'as written' - i.e. in Scots - but comment or e-mail me if you need a translation.

Laconic Epitaph
The following epitaph was copied from a stone in the church-wall of Dowallie, Perthshire. It is without date, but evidently of great age:-
I studied Scottish Literature in St Andrews and Edinburgh Universities as well as the University of Toledo, Ohio. I now make my home in Edinburgh where I am a part-time freelance copy-editor. I'm also the chair of the Society of Young Publishers in Scotland.
